ST. CLAIR COLLEGE - MAIN CAMPUS

WINDSOR, ONTARIO

RC Spencer Associates Inc. undertook the detailed design, contract administration, and site inspection associated with the reconstruction of over 2,000 feet of the Main Road and East Road, serving the Main Campus of St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology, in Windsor, Ontario.

Available inventory of student parking was also increased significantly with the construction / expansion of over, 26 acres of pavement and associated storm drainage in 6 main parking lots.

RC Spencer Associates Inc. undertook the detailed design, contract administration, and site inspection associated with the reconstruction of Lot A and Lot B (staff, student and community parking lots) at the Thames Campus of St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology. Similarly, RC Spencer Associates Inc. successfully completed similar services associated with the power Engineering Technology Building and Mary Uniac Health Sciences Building at the Thames Campus.

Lots A and B service the Thames campus, including the Thames Campus, Thames Campus Arena and Thames Campus Sportsplex. Lots A and Lot B have approximate areas of 80,000 sqft and 92,000 sqft respectively.

The Power Engineering Building is a recent addition to the Thames Campus and is located adjacent to the power line training field at the northwest corner of McNaughton Avenue Wes and Bear Line Road. This area was converted to hard surface; namely concrete slab on grade aprons at the overhead doors and asphalt pavement to the perimeter fence.

RC Spencer Associates Inc. was retained by the St. Clair College of Applied Arts and Technology to participate in their 2020 site enhancements. As an integral part of the College’s plan, RC Spencer Associated Inc. was retained to design, detail, tender and administer a contract which saw the construction of three new 4 metre tall decorative entrance columns at the Cabana Road Entrance. This $100,000 project was designed, detailed and tendered as both cast-in-place concrete and precast so as to drive out maximum cost efficiencies for the College during tender.

RC Spencer Associates Inc. was the civil engineering consultant on the 192 bed and 256 bed long term care facilities in the City of Windsor (Villages of St. Clair (West) and Aspen Lake (East)). Design was completed and approved for both site developments which will include 3 future phases. Further, RC Spencer Associates Inc. provided full municipal engineering for the servicing of the residential townhome development surrounding the Aspen Lake Villages facility.

This $21.8 million school is a combination of elementary and high school and was the first of its kind in Essex County. The elementary school is expected to have 800 students, while the high school will have approximately 500. This project started in 2007 with completion for the 2010-2011 school year. RC Spencer associates Inc. provided civil engineering services for the paving, grading and site services (storm, sanitary and water) as well as storm water management.

ST. JOSEPH SECONDARY SCHOOL WINDSOR, ONTARIO

This 160,000 square foot, two story school is located on Clover Avenue in the City of Windsor. It was built in 2005 for approximately 1200 students. The school has a noise attenuation wall, football and soccer fields, track and field facility and tennis courts. RC Spencer Associates Inc. provided civil engineering services for paving, grading, site services (storm, sanitary sewers and watermains), as well as preparation of a storm water management report.

ECOLE SECONDAIRE DE WINDSOR WINDSOR, ONTARIO

This $12.7 million French Language High School sits on an 11.6 acre site located on Totten Street between mark and Partington Avenues. The school was designed for 500 students and includes 100 on-site motor vehicle parking spaces and two bus bays for 11 school buses and one Kiss & Ride lay-by-lane. RC Spencer Associates Inc. carried out a sanitary sewer servicing study to ascertain which two alternative sewers were acceptable outlets, as well as design engineering for paving and grading, and site services. This project achieved two LEED credits associated with storm water management. One is for rate and quantity and the other was for treatment.

FIRE HALL STATION 2 WINDSOR, ONTARIO

The new Fire Hall No. 2 is a 10,000-square-foot facility located at 3121 Milloy Street, at the intersection of Chandler Road. The facility boasts three (3) truck bays with a uniquely designed office and living quarters to accommodate eight (8) fire fighters and up to three (3) staff members in the Captain’s quarters. The facility includes a variety of environmentally sustainable features within the design. RC Spencer Associates provided paving & grading and site services, engineering and inspection services and storm detention calculations. The facility was completed December 2014.

The new Fire Hall No. 5 is a 10,000-square-foot facility located at 2650 Northwood Avenue, at the intersection of Daytona Avenue and Northwood Avenue. RC Spencer Associates Inc. provided full engineering services for paving and grading and site services stormwater management. The facility was completed in 2017.

The new Fire Hall No. 7 is a $3.9 million facility located at 1380 Matthew Brady Boulevard at the fronts of Lauzon Parkway and McHugh Street. The facility boasts three (3) truck bays. RC Spencer Associates Inc. provided full engineering services for the paving and grading and site services and storm water management. The facility was completed May 2013.

CHATHAM YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION FIELD HOUSE CHATHAM, ONTARIO

RC Spencer Associates Inc. was the prime consultant for this public-private partnership between the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, the Chatham Youth Soccer Association and Chatham-Kent Community Living. This project involved the development of a design-build package associated with a field house to serve the needs of the Municipality (related to the provision of separate and family accessible washroom, Parks and Recreation Staff storage facilities and a picnic pavilion), Chatham Youth Soccer Association (related to a storage room and association administrative office) and Community Living Chatham-Kent (related to the provision of an accessible canteen and servery from which clients of CK Community Living gain valuable skills in retail food sales).

This $400,000 project at Courthouse Lane and Lark Street in Chatham involved consultation and deliberation between all stakeholders regarding the sizing of the facility. RC Spencer Associates Inc. developed the tender package based on deliberations with these stakeholders and the project was tendered through the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

CHATHAM-KENT PUBLIC WORKS SALT SHEDS

RC Spencer Associates Inc. was the engineering consultant on this “design-build” project, with services associated with the planning and placement of three new free-standing structures on previously vacant, undisturbed and contaminant free lands. This involved the design and construction of Public Works Salt Storage Buildings located a the Dover Public Works Garage on Big Pointe Road in the Community of Dover, at the Raleigh Public Works Garage on A.D. Shadd Road in the Community of Raleigh and at the Thamesville Public Works Garage on Evergreen Line in the community of Thamesville. Each of theses buildings have a capacity of approximately 450 tonnes of salt.

A concrete apron was provided at the front of each building, and the structures were situated to allow positive drainage with minimal site work. Timing movement analysis and review of operations and processes were completed to identify optimal placement of each building.
