This $945,000 bridge replacement project included the detailed inspection, development of replacement options, design, contract administration and inspection of construction associated with 36m long precast concrete box culvert bisecting the intersection of two regional roads. Challenges associated with the project included the need to stabilize underlying founding soils (compressible material of very low bearing capacity) by over-excavating and backfilling with lean concrete fill. Despite these challenges, this project was completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule and $45,000 under the approved construction budget.
